The US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) and the U.S. Mission to ASEAN held the launch event of the U.S.-ASEAN Internship Program on May 18, 2018, at @america, Pacific Place, Jakarta.
Over 4,000 American companies operate throughout the region and serve as the employers of millions. The U.S.-ASEAN Internship Program aims to highlight internship opportunities available to ASEAN university students at U.S. companies across ASEAN through a one-stop platform. Both US-ABC and U.S. Mission to ASEAN are cognizant of the significant role that youth employment can play in the region’s socio-economic development.
This program aims to offer ASEAN youth valuable opportunities to intern at leading U.S. companies. From these experiences, US-ABC and US Mission to ASEAN hope to equip the ASEAN youth with more international business exposure, enable them further to develop their English language skills under a professional setting, and better prepare them for entering the workforce. They may also result in full-time job opportunities or better position them as youth entrepreneurs. Both the US-ABC and US-ASEAN Connect websites will serve as a platform to advertise these internship opportunities. It will connect ASEAN university students directly to the U.S. companies, who will make their own hiring decisions thereafter.
The launching event was attended by Vinitaa Jayson (P&G Vice President for Human Resources) and Donna Murdijanto Priadi (Director of Government Affairs and Policy, General Electric Indonesia).
