U.S. – ASEAN Internship Program Webinar: Career Opportunities in the Digital Economy Era

US.-ASEAN Business Council, in collaboration with the US Mission to ASEAN, held a webinar titled "Career Opportunities in the Digital Economy Era." Moderated by Sarah Lessing, Associate at US-ABC, the Webinar featured Christopher Martin, Head of Region for Asia and U.S. at Access Partnership Singapore, and Anne Coppens, Human Resources Operations Directors for the Asia Pacific at UPS Singapore guest speakers. Chris laid out the digital economy landscape in ASEAN, highlighting the top skills sought in the fourth industrial revolution and the emerging career prospects in the areas of cybersecurity, fintech, health technology, home-based entertainment, and online learning. Anne shared another perspective from a logistics company, emphasizing the importance of leadership skills and how UPS’ investment in its people has supported the business growth.

The COVID-19 pandemic has rendered an exceptionally unique time where many industries are altering how they conduct business, and many economic activities are shifted towards digital platforms. This new reality is also slowly transforming the job market, where talents in the digital economy sector are needed unprecedentedly. This Webinar has helped Access Partnership and UPS gain company recognition and grow brand awareness among ASEAN locals and provided the opportunity for them to look into how graduating students view the current job market. It also benefitted the participants in gaining insight into the skills they need to develop to raise their competitiveness among job seekers.
